Rainy Lake & Voyageurs — Interactive Map

A pan/zoom reference map of Rainy Lake, Voyageurs National Park, and the surrounding Borderland, built from authoritative, already-georeferenced public data — lake-depth contours, shorelines, islands, named places, park points of interest, trails, campsites, public boat ramps, and local businesses & attractions from the ifalls.news community guide.

Getting around

Not for primary navigation. Depths and shorelines are references only. On open water, carry official nautical charts and use your own judgment — your phone's GPS “Locate me” position is more precise than this map.

Your location stays on your device. “Locate me” and “Follow me” use your phone or computer’s own GPS entirely in your browser — your position is never sent to us, logged, or stored. The red dot is drawn locally and vanishes when you turn the tool off, and nothing works until you grant your browser’s location permission.

Canadian (Ontario) waters: shoreline is shown, but no open depth data exists for the Ontario side — depth contours cover the U.S. (Minnesota) waters only.

Use as an app

Offline use (experimental)

Offline mode is experimental. It should just work, but if the map ever looks stale or misbehaves, open it once while online and press “Check for updates”.

Checking offline status…

The download includes all map data plus USGS Topo maps for the whole coverage area — when you open the map without signal it starts on USGS Topo automatically. Satellite imagery works offline only for areas you viewed while online (Esri licensing). Tip: install this page as an app from your browser menu (“Add to Home Screen”) — GPS “Locate me” works without signal.
