ifalls.news is a small operation, and much of what you read here is written by AI systems we run. They read public sources, such as city and county agendas and minutes, school newsletters, park, weather and water-level services, and community calendars, and turn them into the articles, roundups and listings on this site. The box at the top of an AI-written article names the AI model and the sources it worked from.
Every automated article goes through automated checks before it publishes: one for structure and wording, and for most of our feeds a fact-check that compares the draft against its sources. A draft that fails is held for a person to look at. We do not read every article before it goes live. People review some of what publishes, spot-check the rest, and fix what readers report.
That means mistakes get through: a wrong date, a misspelled name, a number read off the wrong line, a meeting that was rescheduled after the agenda posted. For anything that matters, such as a meeting time, a closure, a deadline or a price, check the original source linked in the article.
If you spot an error, tell us through the correction form or at info@ifalls.news. We fix errors as soon as we see them.
Content on this site is provided as is. ifalls.news, Small Town Tech Inc., their staff and partners are not liable for decisions made on the strength of an AI-written article, and an AI-written article does not state a position of ifalls.news or its staff.

Heavy snow is headed for International Falls this afternoon, with up to 10 inches expected overnight and gusts reaching 35 mph. Rainy Lake Medical Center is spotlighting several services this week. Their SmartCurve mammography system is designed to reduce discomfort during mammograms — one of the biggest barriers keeping women from regular screenings. RLMC offers 3D mammograms five days a week, plus follow-up diagnostics and ultrasounds every Thursday. No need to travel out of town. Call 218.283.5495 to schedule. Rainy Lake Medical Center
RLMC is also reminding Borderland residents that orthopedic care is available locally — no icy road trips required. Minnesota winters are tough enough on joints without adding a long drive to the recovery process. Learn more at rainylakemedical.com or call 218.283.4481. Rainy Lake Medical Center
March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and RLMC is encouraging screenings starting at age 45 — or earlier for those with family history or risk factors. Colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers when caught early. Talk to your doctor about which screening option is right for you. Rainy Lake Medical Center

It’s Women’s History Wednesday at the Koochiching County Historical Society, and this week’s feature is Bessie McPeek. Born Bessie Roan in 1864 in St. Charles, Minnesota, she came to Rainy Lake in 1917 with her husband, physician Dr. James McPeek, to survey the property known as “Birch Point.” They purchased the land and built a summer hotel and cabins. After Dr. McPeek’s passing in 1922, Bessie ran Birch Point Paradise on her own.
“Mrs. McPeek was a well-loved and gracious hostess. Her cabins were cozy and filled with bright colors — one of which even had a lavender-painted floor.”
She co-founded the Birch Point Association with friend Ernest Oberholtzer and helped establish the Rainy Lake Women’s Club. A devoted steward of the wilderness, she passed away in 1933 in Ranier, fondly remembered by all who knew her. Koochiching County Historical Society

The Voyageurs Conservancy is spotlighting Hannah Renslow, a Wetland and Wildlife Ecology Field Fellow who spent last summer doing hands-on conservation work in Voyageurs National Park. Her projects included helping restore more than 500 acres of shoreline impacted by invasive hybrid cattails using methods from brush cutting to Truxors.
“Be brave and take the position. Don’t let fear stop you. The people you meet and the experiences you have are worth it.”
The Voyageurs Field Fellow program offers stipend-paid fellowships for students and recent graduates to gain real-world conservation experience in Minnesota’s national park. Voyageurs Conservancy
