ifalls.news is a small operation, and much of what you read here is written by AI systems we run. They read public sources, such as city and county agendas and minutes, school newsletters, park, weather and water-level services, and community calendars, and turn them into the articles, roundups and listings on this site. The box at the top of an AI-written article names the AI model and the sources it worked from.
Every automated article goes through automated checks before it publishes: one for structure and wording, and for most of our feeds a fact-check that compares the draft against its sources. A draft that fails is held for a person to look at. We do not read every article before it goes live. People review some of what publishes, spot-check the rest, and fix what readers report.
That means mistakes get through: a wrong date, a misspelled name, a number read off the wrong line, a meeting that was rescheduled after the agenda posted. For anything that matters, such as a meeting time, a closure, a deadline or a price, check the original source linked in the article.
If you spot an error, tell us through the correction form or at info@ifalls.news. We fix errors as soon as we see them.
Content on this site is provided as is. ifalls.news, Small Town Tech Inc., their staff and partners are not liable for decisions made on the strength of an AI-written article, and an AI-written article does not state a position of ifalls.news or its staff.
The International Falls Rotary Club is hosting a book drive as part of its Love of Reading Early (L.O.R.E.) program, a local initiative aimed at fostering a lifelong love of reading among children ages 0-5 years old. The drive will take place at Small Town Tech (located at 304 3rd St.) during their business hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Books can be dropped off anytime their shop is open.
The Rotary Club is seeking book donations specifically for its signature L.O.R.E. book boxes, which have been a vital community resource for over a decade. These book boxes (Lorebraries) are located at various sites throughout International Falls and allow families to pick up books for free to encourage early literacy and provide children with access to engaging reading materials.
L.O.R.E., founded in 2013 by the International Falls Rotary Club, focuses on improving early childhood literacy in Koochiching County. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics: Policy Statement 2014, research indicates that reading at an early age helps develop cognitive, language, and social skills, all of which set the foundation for future academic success throughout the child’s life. The program recognizes the importance of reading during a child’s formative years and aims to ensure that every young child in the community has access to books.
Honorary Rotarian Don Nech, a Vietnam veteran who settled in International Falls, has been a passionate advocate for the L.O.R.E. program. Introduced to the joys of reading by a kind librarian during his own childhood, Don understands firsthand the transformative power of books. After discovering the program through a display of Lorebrary art at the local library, he became a dedicated supporter, inspired by the mission to ensure every child experiences the benefits of being read to and owning books. Don’s story underscores the lifelong impact that early literacy initiatives like L.O.R.E. can have on individuals and communities.
The L.O.R.E. program currently maintains Lorebraries at several key locations throughout International Falls, including the Koochiching Food Access, Rainy Lake Medical Center, Essentia Clinic, Head Start, McDonald’s, Dairy Queen, the Backus Community Center and SuperOne Foods. These boxes are stocked with gently used and new books, providing a convenient way for families to access age-appropriate reading materials. The book box at SuperOne is currently being refurbished but will soon be back in operation.

With the program’s continued growth, the Rotary Club is calling on the community to donate books for children between the ages of 0-5. Picture books, board books, and early readers are especially appreciated. Donors can drop off their contributions at Small Town Tech during business hours.
The Rotary Club emphasizes that book drives like this are essential to keeping the L.O.R.E. program thriving. Reading is a gift that lasts a lifetime. With the community’s support, they can continue to put books into the hands of young children and make a lasting impact on their futures.
Over the past ten years, the L.O.R.E. program has distributed thousands of books to families in the area, helping to promote a culture of literacy in International Falls. The program has become a trusted resource for parents and caregivers who want to encourage reading at an early age.
If you’re looking for a way to make a difference, consider contributing to the L.O.R.E. Book Drive. Each book donated helps lay the foundation for a child’s success, one story at a time.
